Das "Reservat" Gehweg wird heute von Autostraßen unterbrochen. Gehl hat in Kopenhagen die Bürgersteige über Einmündungen weitergeführt, so dass die Autos sie überqueren müssen. Sein Vortrag am Beginn des zweiten Kongresstages enthielt noch viele erhellende Beispiele, die von den Zuhörern sicher häufig zitiert werden.

Weniger Autos fahren alle 30
Zum Kongress "Die Stadt für Morgen" hat das Umweltbundesamt (UBA) eine begleitende Studie erstellt, in der eine Vielzahl von Zusammenhängen zu Handlungsempfehlungen mit zeitlich abgestufter Priorisierung verdichtet werden. Darin empfiehlt das UBA u.a., die verfügbaren Pkw auf 150 je 1.000 Einwohner zu reduzieren. Bislang liegt der Durchschnitt in deutschen Großstädten bei 450 Pkw, im gesamten Bundesgebiet sogar noch weit höher. Spitzenreiter ist München mit 485, während Berlin mit 350 fast am Ende der Tabelle rangiert. Zum internationalen Vergleich hat das UBA noch London, Wien und Zürich aufgeführt, wo um die 300 Pkw je 1000 P. unterwegs sind.
Eine Reduzierung der Automenge hätte zur Folge, dass weniger Raum für das Abstellen notwendig ist, der frei wäre für menschenfreundlichere Nutzungen. Auch könnten Pkw-Fahrspuren ersetzt werden durch Fahrradwege, Spielplätze, Sport- oder Grünanlagen etc.

Bunter Strauß an Maßnahmen
Im Umweltzentrum in der Berliner Friedensstraße trafen sich vor allem Experten, die sich an verschiedenen Stellen für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung engagieren. Viele fahrradfreundliche Städte wie Münster, Karlsruhe oder Freiburg waren vertreten, regionale und nationale Regierungen, aber auch international tätige Organisationen. Bei vielen dürften die zahlreichen Anliegen des UBA gut aufgehoben sein. Für die Umsetzung bedarf es noch weiterer Hinweise, das wurde aus den Rückfragen auch an Jan Gehl schnell klar.
Die Ergebnisse der Studie wurden in zwei Workshop-Sessions diskutiert. Am ersten Tag war die Sortierung thematisch und orientierte sich an den Kapiteln der Studie. Bei der Aufteilung nach Organisationsform - Behörden / Wissenschaft / Unternehmen etc. - waren die Teilnehmer stärker eingebunden.
Die "Kommunen" erörterten die Machbarkeit vor allem jedweder Beschränkungen des Auto-Verkehrs. Die Dringlichkeit mag angesichts der laufenden Prozesse zur Einhaltung von Feinstaub- und NOx-Grenzwerten zwar manifest sein. Trotzdem verweisen viele Kommunalpolitiker auf die vielfältigen Widerstände gegen Beschränkungen des MIV. Deshalb sind die Städte aufgerufen, die Ergebnisse ihrer Bemühungen möglichst breit und wirksam zu präsentieren. Auch hier dient Kopenhagen als Beispiel, wo Jan Gehl von Anbeginn Wert legte auf regelmäßige Dokumentation aller Maßnahmen, eine sehr demokratische Form der Bürgerbeteiligung.
Mobilität ist weiterhin zu einfach und zu billig
Das Idealbild des UBA ist eine Stadt der kurzen Wege. Wenn die Nutzungsformen durchmischt sind, also Wohnen, Arbeiten, Einkaufen, Freizeigestaltung, Sport etc. nicht voneinander getrennt werden, verringern sich auch die notwendigen Wegstrecken. Das bisherige Konzept mit Gewerbegebieten auf der grünen Wiese und reinen Wohngebieten ist wenig nachhaltig. Auch wenn immer mehr Menschen in die Stadt ziehen, bleibt es weiterhin attraktiv, im Speckgürtel zu wohnen und zu pendeln, wie sich aktuell in wachsenden Städten wie etwa Leipzig zeigt.
Dekarbonisierung - und Deskalation
Der erste Tag endete mit einem Podium, auf dem u.a. die rbb-Moderatorin Bettina Rust von ihren Erfahrungen mit städtischer Mobilität berichtete. Ihr launiges Bonmot, sie habe immer zwei Feinde, egal ob sie zu Fuß geht oder Rad oder Auto fährt - die jeweils anderen beiden Gruppen-, markierte einen wichtigen Aspekt. Die Lebensqualität wäre erheblich größer, wenn alle Verkehrsteilnehmer den verfügbaren Raum bereitwilliger teilten. Damit würde es für alle komfortabler, erholsamer und sicherer.

Bei der abschließenden Runde (Foto ganz oben) durfte jeder im Panel einen Wunsch äußern. Dr. Damasky vom VDA wünschte sich Verbesserungen für E-Busse, Prof. Rammler einen Wettbewerb um Lebensqualität und Christian Hochfeld eine entschiedenere Bekämpfung der Emissionen von Dieselfahrzeugen. Braucht es dafür Magie? Oder ist das nicht vielmehr menschenmöglich?

Die Idee lag nahe. Der BSM hat schon bei seiner Gründung 1989 die gemeinsamen Interessen von Fahrern und Konstrukteuren elektrischer Fahrzeuge gebündelt. Bis heute wurde der technologische Vorsprung der Umrüster von den OEMs nicht eingeholt - trotz millionenschwerer Förderung. Diese Zusammenhänge gilt es offensiver zu vertreten, damit die Umbauten in jeder Hinsicht die Anerkennung erhalten, die sie verdienen. Ob beim 'Kennzeichen E', bei Nutzervorteilen für E-Fahrzeuge, in offiziellen Statistiken oder als Referenz für die Leistungsfähigkeit der Technologie und ihrer Ingenieure.
Wo immer sich Elektromobilisten zu Wett- oder Ausfahrten treffen, sind auch Umbauten dabei. Allein zur WAVE reisen jedes Jahr ein Dutzend überwiegend aufregende Modelle an - am Steuer häufig der Konstrukteur selbst. Wer die Ladepunkte dieser Fahrten nicht besucht hat, erhält am 15.10. in Steyerberg die Gelegenheit, sich bei echten Experten zu erkundigen, ob und wie sein eigenes Fahrzeug umgerüstet werden kann. Auch wenn die Kosten maßgeschneiderter Lösungen höher sind als bei einer Serienproduktion, ist das Interesse groß. Die meisten der etwa zwei Dutzend Umrüster in Deutschland haben gut zu tun. Bei allen überwiegt bisher aber der Enthusiasmus für die Elektromobilität. Dafür liefern die Fahrzeuge mit gewünschter Reichweite und bestmöglicher Ladetechnik. |

Nach Steyerberg werden einige Fahrzeuge kommen, die von deutschen Umrüstern elektrifiziert wurden, und der BSM stellt dort seine Kampagne 'electrify your baby!' erstmals öffentlich vor. |
Das Interesse an solchen Umbauten wird weiter steigen, wenn künftig einzelne Viertel, belastete Innenstädte oder ganze Regionen für Verbrennungsfahrzeuge gesperrt werden. Wer sein geliebtes Vehikel weiterhin überall hin steuern möchte, könnte mit der Zeit gehen und den Antrieb wechseln.
]]>Das Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz, Bau und Reaktorsicherheit (BMUB) hatte Glück mit dem Wetter. Sonne satt. Für den Tag der offenen Tür der Bundesregierung am 27. und 28. August war der hauseigene Garten hergerichtet. Der BSM brachte zu seinem ELECTWOCITY-Stand einige e2rädern mit, um den Besuchern Varianten elektrischer Zweiräder vorzuführen.

Die Nachbarschaft des BMUB zum Potsdamer Platz führte zu deutlich mehr BesucherInnen als etwa bei Verkehrs- oder Wirtschaftsministerium in der Invalidenstraße. Der BSM hatte die Einladung, an dem Tag der offenen Tür teilzunehmen, gern angenommen. Die vom BMUB/Umweltbundesamt geförderte Kampagne ELECTWOCITY startete erst im Juli und konnte daher nur grundlegende Informationen liefern. Das Publikum war aber insgesamt auch eher an den Fahrzeugen interessiert als den Auswirkungen des Verkehrs auf die Umwelt.
Bunte e2rad-Welt
Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein versammelte der BSM eine spannende Mischung elektrischer Zweiräder. Das Dienst-Pedelec des BSM ist ein solides Basis-Modell von Winora. 'Lautlos durch Deutschland', mit dem der BSM seit vielen Jahren kooperiert und auch die Geschäftsräume teilt, stellte zwei deutlich coolere Modelle zur Verfügung: ein Gocycle ohne mechanische Kraftübertragung durch Kette oder Kardan und ein sportives Specialized, dem die Motorunterstützung kaum noch anzusehen ist.

Ein Retro-Roller vom Remagener Lieferanten Kumpan wurde präsentiert vom Friedrichshainer Händler e-Roller Berlin. Besonders auffällig war der schicke Taiwaner 'Gogoro' eScooter, mit dem die Bosch-Tochter Coup Mobility ein Free-Floating-Angebot in Berlin startet.
Das Publikum konnte der zentralen Idee der ELECTWOCITY-Kampagne folgen, dass der innerstädtische Verkehr durch den Umstieg auf elektrische Zweiräder entlastet werden muss. Die Vielfalt der Möglichkeiten vom einfachen Pedelec, mit dem man ohne Schwitzen im Büro eintrifft, bis zur gelegentlichen Nutzung eines e-Rollers im Sharing-Konzept überzeugte den einen oder anderen - jedenfalls gab es durchaus Fragen zum Anschaffungspreis. Am Rande freute sich T. Ruschmeyer auch über den Stand-Nachbarn VCD, der sich zuletzt vom Glauben an klimafreundliche Verbrennungsmotoren verabschiedete und auf eine Pkw-Umweltliste verzichtete.
Aus den Gesprächen haben der BSM und die Mitaussteller einige Erkenntnisse gewonnen, welche Umstände und Argumente eigentlich gegen die Mobilität auf zwei Rädern sprechen. Aufgabe für die Zukunft wird sein, diese Hindernisse aus dem Weg zu räumen. Vor allem muss das e2rad-Fahren sicherer und (noch) einfacher werden. Nur am Wetter lässt sich nicht viel machen.
]]>Der traditionelle Gemeinschaftsstand präsentiert BSM-Mitglieder mit ihren Lösungen zur Verbesserung der Umweltbilanz von Mobilität. Der BSM entscheidet außerdem über die Awards und gestaltet das Forum mit.
2022 in Berlin werden vor allem Zweisitzer zu sehen sein unter dem Motto "schlau mobil" - neben- und hintereinander.
